US Congress Warns Employees not to Install Chinese AI App DeepSeek: Report

US congressional workplaces have been cautioned versus installing the Chinese AI app DeepSeek, Axios reported on Thursday, citing a notice provided by the chief administrative officer of the US House of Representatives.

According to Axios, the notice stated, « At this time, DeepSeek is under review by the CAO and is currently unapproved for official House usage. »

The emergence of DeepSeek, a low-cost Chinese AI design, has raised issues about its potential to challenge the market supremacy of US-based AI giants like OpenAI and Alphabet’s Google.

Last week, DeepSeek introduced a complimentary AI assistant that it declares runs with lower information usage and at a portion of the cost of US designs. Within days, it became the many on Apple’s App Store, fueling worries about US leadership in AI. This advancement added to a market shake-up that eliminated roughly $1 trillion in value from US tech stocks.
